| Community Leaders Fellowship Program |
What is it? A workshop for cross-section of leaders from government, education, religion, nonprofit and business. The Fellows Program focuses on bringing together a diverse set of community leaders in a metropolitan area. The original and flagship program is The Diversity Leadership Program of Atlanta (DLAA). Currently, the Academy offers courses in Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Greenville, and is pursuing opportunities to expand the program into other communities, including New York, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Phoenix.
Who should attend? The program focuses on senior leaders of organizations that exert significant influence in the local community. The program was created to help leaders of institutions that often lack the funds for such developmental programs, such as educational institutions, religious organizations, governmental units and non-profit organizations. A small number of business representatives are also included to ensure true diversity in each class.
What is the program design? Twice each year (Spring & Fall), a class of 30-40 leaders embark on a five-day curriculum that is spread across approximately five months. Participants are organized into learning circles and work in varied groups throughout the program, with classroom instruction, case studies, group assignments, videos, experiential learning, and practical application. Each group selects a practical issue in the community to which they apply the frameworks, processes, tools and skills to develop recommended solutions.
How much does it cost? Tuition is $3,500, however, participants may attend on fellowship provided by a sponsoring organization such as the case with the Atlanta program sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company.
How can I participate? Participating leaders may apply directly to the Academy or may be nominated by program alumni or DLA staff. To inquire about nominations, contact DLA.
How can I start one in my city? Just contact DLA.
